I recently attended the Opening Night Gala of "Four Old Broads", a Tillamook Association of the Performing Arts production, at The Barn Playhouse in Tillamook directed by Chris Chiola and produced by Rob Buckingham.  It's the hilarious story of life and hijinks at Magnolia Place Assisted Living, located somewhere in the South.

Joni Sauer-Folger portrays Beatrice Shelton, a retired burlesque queen who longs to go on a fun vacation where she can meet men, and lots of them!  A Sassy Seniors Cruise through the Caribbean may be just the ticket if she can just convince her best friend, Eaddy Mae Clayton, portrayed by Kelli McMellon to stop praying long enough to go with her.  Maude Jenkins, portrayed by Val Braun, is obsessed with her favorite soap opera and planning her own funeral, while the newest resident, Imogene Fletcher, portrayed by Berta Limbaugh, is suddenly losing her memory and no one can figure out why. Sam Smith, portrayed by Jared Wilson, is a retired Elvis impersonator who's trying to romance Imogene as she's the only one he hasn't bedded down yet.

Meanwhile, new nurse Pat Jones, played by Diane Ericson, is up to no good and has made living at Magnolia Place unpleasant and possibly dangerous for the residents.  Fellow nurse Ruby Sue Bennett, portrayed by Sabrina Garry seems to be an ally to the ladies but is hard to read...  The Broads and Sam team up to outsmart nurse Pat and get to the bottom of her nefarious plan which endangers dear Imogene...

This play is a delight to watch and a fun escape for the evening with friends and family. The all-local cast is so enjoyable and they each played their characters to the fullest.  Lots of laughs from beginning to end, a bit saucy, and a good mystery make for a highly recommended production!

"Four Old Broads"  continues its run at The Barn Community Playhouse,1204 Ivy Ave, Tillamook, through April 30th, Friday & Saturday evenings at 7 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.Tillamooktheater.com, or by calling 503-812-0275.  Don't wait to get tickets!  The first weekend was almost sold out!

The next production is "The Gin Game" directed by Rob Buckingham, featuring Rodney Dahl & Doral Vance.  This play runs June 16, 2023-July 02, 2023.
