Manzanita

In the early 1900s real estate agents spoke of Manzanita as the “Carmel of the North”. Today the village is no less charming and offers quaint shops, restaurants and great beach access. If you’ve got a bit of spare time you might even search for the 16th century Spanish treasure rumored to be buried on nearby Neakahnie Mountain.

The small communities of Nehalem and Wheeler located a few miles south served as home to fish canneries and lumber mills in bygone days but are still rich with history and traditional charm.
