Tillamook Lanes Acquired by YMCA!

In a wonderful turn of events, our local YMCA has made a game-changing acquisition by taking over Tillamook Lanes, the beloved local bowling alley! This significant move not only ensures the preservation of a cherished community landmark but also paves the way for exciting new opportunities, particularly for youth programs.

From bowling leagues to leadership development initiatives, the YMCA, under the enthusiastic leadership of Kaylan Sisco, CEO & Executive Director at Tillamook County Family YMCA, is committed to offering even more avenues for our young members to thrive and enjoy their time.

Several months ago, I embarked on a journey with the YMCA, which has quickly become one of my most fulfilling experiences in recent years. It's the part of my job where I get to assist a client in reaching their goals and making a positive impact on the community where I live and raise my own children. Kaylan and the YMCA board had a vision not only to expand the physical space of the YMCA but also to introduce new and exciting programs for our youth. All of this, while preserving a space that holds a special place in the hearts of many locals, serving not only as a bowling alley but also as a gathering spot for socializing, celebrating, dining, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Thanks to years of diligent fiscal management, the YMCA endowment fund, and the generous contributions from the Pastega Family, The Loren Park Foundation, and the Robert Riggert Family Foundation, the YMCA successfully closed the deal on the bowling alley just last month. They now hold the keys to starting the process of running the alley while the community continues to enjoy it. Additionally, they are exploring new after-school programs designed to provide a safe, welcoming place for kids from neighboring Jr. High, East Elementary, and all other local schools. Here, they can bowl, enjoy a meal, and simply have a secure space to spend their time, much like the primary Y location on Stilwell in town.
